I AM PEACE Foundation was born out of necessity.

In the summer of 2014, our local Crown Heights community endured numerous instances of gun violence. After a first-hand experience dodging bullets at Jackie Robinson Playground on July 17, 2014, we took action and created the I AM PEACE 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament. With just three weeks of lead time, the inaugural tournament on August 9, 2014 was a powerful success, transforming the war zone into a PEACE ZONE.

As the annual tournament has become a pillar in our community, we began piloting a mentorship program in late 2015 to expand our impact.

We provide:

  • College, Career, and Life Readiness

  • Educational Workshops and Trips

  • Test Prep and Homework Help

  • Monthly Community Dinners

  • Resume Development and Job Placement

We are committed to deploying our model of preventive positive care to steer youth toward productive life paths. The next major step in I AM PEACE Foundation’s journey is accomplishing our long-term goal of developing a community center where youth are able to learn, grow, and prosper in a safe, welcoming space.
